WHAT IS CHIROPRACTIC?

Chiropractic is a natural, complimentary, hands-on, drug and surgery free approach to healthcare. A chiropractor deals with the diagnosis, treatment and management of the spine, extremity joints and nervous system. Firstly the chiropractor seeks to understand the cause and source of the complaint. The treatment then involves safe, gentle, manipulation of the spine or extremity joint to allow improved joint movement and to relieve pain. As well as manipulation a variety of soft tissue therapies, strapping, electrical modalities e.g. ultrasound and rehabilitative exercises may also be used to facilitate the healing process. While chiropractic is a drug and surgery free alternative to neuromusculoskeletal complaints chiropractors are trained to complement the work of other medical specialists and where necessary refer you to the appropriate specialist.

WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM CHIROPRACTIC CARE?

Babies and Children: Chiropractic helps with infantile colic and a host of musculoskeletal injuries, which can result as a child grows.
Pregnant women: Chiropractor’s can minimize back pain that commonly occurs later in pregnancy.
Office workers: Who sit in front of a computer for extended periods of time. Computer work often results in headaches, neck and/or back problems because of poor posture and little physical exercise.
Factory workers: Who do a lot of repetitive type activities.
The Elderly: Who have years of wear and tear, which leaves them susceptible to spinal problems.
Athletes: Who often push their bodies to the limit, causing muscle strains, joint sprains and musculoskeletal problems later in life.
